Jim has extensive experience at all levels in the Sheriff's Department and has proven himself a leader as a patrolman, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, captain and chief deputy.

Operations Experience

Jim has worked or has overseen all operations within the Sheriff's Department. He manages the day to day operation along with the creation of policies and the 16.8 million dollar budget process.

Investigative Experience

Jim worked 10 years in the investigation division. He worked the majority of the high profile homicide cases along with many other significant investigations. He has been the advocate for those that have died as a result of violence from another, and is committed to providing rights and support to crime victims.



Training Experience

Jim is a trainer for the Sheriff's Department. Jim has trained the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team (SERT) in the area of SWAT Tactics in the early 1990's. He was an Executive Board Member of the Missouri Deputy Sheriffs Association, where he was the Training Coordinator for Southwest Missouri. While doing this, he provided free training for Sheriff Departments with no budget for providing deputies training. He traveled to these areas on his own time and expense. Jim is a Missouri Certified Law Enforcement Instructor; he teaches new recruits at the Drury University Law Enforcement Academy in various areas of his expertise. He also serves Drury University in the capacity as a Drury LE Academy Advisory Board Member. Jim is also a Missouri Sheriff's Association Law Enforcement Academy Coordinator, where he oversees a Law Enforcement Academy in Greene County. He believes that failing to train, is training to fail.

SERT Experience

Jim served as team leader and training officer for the team in the early 1990's where he served as team leader and point man for over 200 high risk search warrants during this time.

Jail Experience

Jim served as interim director in addition to performing the duties of Chief Deputy. He currently oversees the jail director and the budget expenditures along with income generated by that operation.
